Sharing Christmas 2017

The Mission Outreach Ministry Team is busy planning this annual mission serving local children and their families. The team receives names from the Salvation Army, and “adopts” fifty children. Our Church members choose a tag with a child’s name and information about clothing sizes and toys they would like. After shopping, the gifts are wrapped and brought to church for our Sharing Christmas party. A fun December Saturday morning finds many children and their families enjoying breakfast goodies, tables of crafts, face painting and an opportunity to get a family picture by the Christmas tree. At the end of the morning, everyone gathers in the sanctuary to sing favorite carols, see a Christmas skit, and receive their Christmas bag of gifts. Each family also receives a holiday tin of homemade cookies.

Our mission each December certainly reminds each of us…the reason for this season!

FAMILY CHRISTMAS STORY HOUR time is coming soon. Children and their families will be invited to join us in the parlor by the fireplace and enjoy some Christmas stories, make a Christmas craft, sing some Carols, and have some hot chocolate and cookies. We will gather on three Wednesday evenings, 6:30 to 7:30 pm, November 29, December 6, and December 13.

Plan to join us, come in your pj’s and bring a friend!

TURKEY TIME…We are collecting money donations for turkeys for the Christian Community Cupboard. The Cupboard is then purchasing turkeys and will hand out vouchers to families to pick up a turkey at Sav-A-Lot in Scott Depot. Our contributions will help provide turkeys for local families for the holidays.

Following the worship service on Sunday, December 3, there will be an Advent Luncheon. Everyone is encouraged to bring soup, a tray of sandwiches, or a dessert to share with others. Following lunch, there is an opportunity to make Advent Calendars. Each family may make a calendar for themselves or one to share with someone else.
